Getting started

Disqus’ free-to-use, Basic plan is supported by advertising. Publishers using this version of Disqus will see advertising within the Disqus embed on their sites. Publishers using other plans can choose to enable or disable Disqus advertising on their sites. Qualifying publishers can participate in the Disqus Ads program to earn revenue with Disqus. Disqus advertising is highly configurable, allowing publishers to choose from several ad positions and types.

Advertising Settings

To see and configure your settings, go to your Ads Settings. Ads settings are available to organization owners, organization admins, and moderators with 'can edit settings' permissions. How to disable advertising.

Whether you choose to show ads above, below, or in-thread with your comments, quality native content and premium ads are just a click away in your Ads Settings page.

Complete payment information is required in order to receive payments from Disqus.

Getting Paid

Earnings for a single shortname must exceed 100.00 USD (after fees) and payment information must be complete.

Payments over 100.00 USD are sent once a month 90 days after the revenue was earned. Payments are sent by month end.

The most common reason for missing payments is incomplete payment information.

Earnings and Performance Reports

A report of daily earnings is available to all Ad-enabled publishers in the Admin > Revenue > Analyze revenue. In this report you'll find:

  • Ad Revenue: Amount you earned from Disqus advertising

  • Viewable Impressions: How often users scroll down below the fold and see Disqus ads

  • Viewability %: How often users scroll below the fold and see Disqus ads compared to overall page impressions

  • RPMv: Revenue earned per 1,000 viewable impressions

Upcoming Payments

Your site's upcoming payments is available in Payments.

Upcoming payments are shown in green along with an estimated delivery date. Unpaid earnings are shown in yellow and the money earned during each period is paid out 90 days after that earnings period completes.
