Edit comments

As a registered commenter

Registered Disqus users can edit their own comments by clicking the Edit link within 7 days after posting. After 7 days, editing is permanently disabled. Disqus does this to help make comments less susceptible to spam abuse.

As a guest commenter

Guest commenters should contact the moderator of the website where their comment was originally posted to request that it be edited. Editing is also disabled for moderators for comments older than 7 days.  It's up to each site how they manage their discussions, including how to respond to commenter requests.

With a site-specific profile

Comments made with a site-specific profile can only be edited on the original page where they were posted. Comments made by site-specific profiles cannot be edited in Disqus Home.

Remove comments

As a site moderator

As a registered commenter

Registered Disqus users can remove their own comments from public discussions and their profile by deleting them.

  • Once a comment has been deleted it cannot be claimed again.

  • Comments are not anonymized when they are deleted and can still be seen by moderators.

How to delete a comment: hover your cursor over the comment you want to delete > click the actions dropdown > click Delete.

To delete a comment appearing in your profile, click "View in discussion", then delete it from the discussion as described above.

As a guest commenter

Guest commenters should contact the moderator of the website where their comment was originally posted to request that it be removed. It's up to each site how they manage their discussions, including how to respond to commenter requests.

With a site-specific profile

Comments made with a site-specific profile can only be removed on the original page where they were posted. Comments made by site-specific profiles cannot be removed in Disqus Home.
