Moving from Blogger to WordPress can seem daunting at first, but with our migration tools and this step-by-step guide you'll be on your way in no time!

  1. Register a Disqus forum for your comments if you haven't already.

  2. Import your Blogger comments into Disqus. The following step is absolutely necessary as Blogger and WordPress URL structures are not the same. This is the most important part of the moving process. See: Differences between Blogger and WordPress URL structures below.

  3. Upload a URL map to migrate your threads' URLs from their old Blogger URL structure to their new WordPress URL structure.

  4. Install and setup the Disqus WordPress plugin on your WordPress installation.

Differences between Blogger and WordPress URL structures

Sample Blogger URL: http://samplesite.blogspot.com/2011/01/sample-post.html Sample self-hosted WordPress URL: http://samplesite.com/2011/01/sample-post

Notable differences:

  • No .blogspot in the base domain of the WordPress URL

  • No .html appended to the end of the WordPress URL

These are just examples. Your Blogger and WordPress URL structures may have additional differences. Read more about the URL mapper.
