Following other users

Following users is a great way to discover new content, and be part of the most recent conversations happening in your network.

Why should I follow other people?

Many comments posted through Disqus are hilarious, insightful, or just fascinating to read. Following other users keeps you up-to-date with the latest news that's relevant to you. After you choose to follow someone, his or her activity will show up in your My Disqus tab and Dashboard activity stream (use the “Context” button to get the full conversation).

Follow people that interest you

When you follow people on Disqus, their conversations and activity will populate your Network tab . You'll see what they comment on most, what they upvote, and where the conversation is happening.

How do I follow/unfollow others?

You can follow a user by expanding their profile (by clicking their avatar) and selecting the "Follow" button.

You can unfollow a user in a few different ways:

  • By selecting "Unfollow" with the method described above.
  • Through the Dashboard, by either clicking the user's avatar in the sidebar and selecting "Unfollow" from the pop-up window.

  • Or by clicking your follow total (the number of people you are following) to see the option to unfollow users.

How do I find people to follow?

Besides organically finding new and interesting people in conversations around the Disqus network, Disqus will also suggest people you may want to follow, based on your existing friends on Twitter. You can find this on the left side of the Dashboard.

How do I block people from following me?

While the functionality to block followers doesn't currently exist within Disqus, we are working to provide features to help protect users against abuse in the future. Additional guidance on what to do when situations on Disqus become abusive can be found in our Abuse Documentation.
