In completing the Installation and Setup flow with Disqus, you'll be prompted to select a Moderation Profile corresponding to how strictly you'd like to filter content. While this allows you to set a baseline with a single click, all of the components of each profile may be individually customized from your Moderation Settings page.

There are two profiles to choose from, Strict and Balanced. Strict is designed to catch and automatically remove risky content, minimizing the amount Moderator oversight needed. Balanced is designed to be more open, with a few automated rules in place to help ease moderation needs.

Strict

  • Images, Videos, and Links will not be allowed in comments

  • Guest comments will not be allowed

  • Comments that are flagged 3 times will be sent to pending

  • Threads will be automatically closed after 30 days

  • Comments containing restricted words will be automatically deleted

  • Toxic comments will be automatically deleted

Balanced

  • Images, Videos, and Links will be allowed in comments

  • Guest comments will be allowed

  • Comments that are flagged 5 times will be sent to pending

  • Comments containing restricted words will be automatically deleted

  • Toxic comments will require moderator approval to be displayed

If you'd like to later change which Moderation Profile your site is using, this may be done from the Moderation section of the Installation page.
