Images
Direct Uploading
Click the image icon at the bottom of any comment box and choose which file you'd like to upload. You can also drag-and-drop an image file directly into the comment box.
Max file size is 2 MB
Supported image formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF
Adding Gifs
To add gifs to your comment, you can click on the GIF icon at the end of the row of formatting options. This will allow you to search for a gif to add to your comment.
Rich Media Linking
Within your comment, paste the URL of the direct image file you’d like to include (e.g. https://helloworld.com/funny.png). You should see a thumbnail appear if the image was detected. When you post the comment, the image is embedded in your comment.
We support embedding rich media links from the following services:
Youtube
Vimeo
Twitter (tweets)
Facebook (status, video, photo)
Instagram (photo only)
Giphy
Imgur
Google Maps
Soundcloud
Vine
How does it work?
Type your comment and copy and paste the URL of the media you’d like to include into the compose box. You can still use the image icon to upload still images from your computer.
When you click the post button, we’ll include the media in the post itself. This means that you can watch the videos your friends reference without leaving the comment screen.
How do I turn it off?
We understand that sometimes you’re not in the mood to check out lots of images and videos, so we’ve added the ability to hide media. To do this, click the gear icon at the top right above the comment stream, and select “hide media.”
This will hide all media items behind a link. Please note that if you go to another site and don’t want to see media, you’ll have to select this setting again.
After you’ve hidden media, your thread will look something like this, and you’ll be able to view media links one at a time by clicking the media link next to the comment.
For publishers:
If you allow your users to upload content or include media links in their posts, we encourage you to update your community guidelines. Rich media is a powerful tool for communication, and sometimes it can be abused. Setting clear expectations for commenting behavior can help ensure your readers have a positive commenting experience.
If you’re not seeing rich media at all on your site, you may not have media turned on. To do this, go to your publisher settings, and select the checkbox next to “enable media attachments.”
To disable, uncheck the box next to “enable media attachments.” Please note that it is not possible to disable certain types of media. Disabling and enabling applies to all rich media included in this feature.
