How to Add Admins to your Organization

Admins can be added to an organization at the Disqus Admin > Settings > Admins page after selecting your desired organization. Click the "Add admin" button and entering the person's Disqus username. Please note that while the username is designated on the profile with an @, this symbol is not part of the username, and shouldn't be entered into the field. Be sure to click save at the bottom of this page.

How to Add Moderators to Your Site

Moderators can be added to an individual site at the Disqus Admin > Moderation > Moderators page by clicking the "Add a moderator" button and entering the person's Disqus username. Be sure to click save at the bottom of this page.

Keep in mind that additional moderators must already be registered as Disqus users before being added to your community as moderators. If the moderator you'd like to add doesn't already have a Disqus user account, they can register with their email and password.

โ€‹Single Sign-on (SSO) accounts can be added as moderators too by entering their SSO username (e.g., cnn-4e24e88607ab41b791fd0b80c0).

There are 3 different roles when it comes to administration and moderation on Disqus:

  • Org Owner - a founding admin of an organization of sites. This account has "can edit settings" and "can edit comments" permissions on all sites within the organization, along with the ability to delete the organizations and individual sites. To transfer ownership of individual sites, see How do I change the primary moderator?

  • Org Admin - an admin of an organization of sites. This account has "can edit settings" and "can edit comments" permissions on all sites within the organization.

  • Site Moderator - a moderator of the forum who does not have admin permissions for the organization or "can edit settings" permissions for the site.

The Disqus Admin provides access to different features, settings, and tools based on these user roles. More information on See the chart below to understand which Admin navigation pages each role has access to:
